Lying on the back with the arms and legs extended and close to the body. The patient is lying on his back, in a horizontal position, the axis of the body being parallel to the floor. It is the most common position adopted by the patient in bed and it is also the most common in surgical operations. It allows lung expansion and facilitates the alignment of the different body segments. Place a pillow under the head, lumbar area and popliteal hollows. Appropriate position for the examination of the thorax, abdomen, upper and lower limbs, postoperative, bed stay and postural changes, to perform R.C.P. (supine with the head in hyperextension).
