Plantar Fascia pain / Plantar Fasciitis
Goal
* Ofter called "Plantar fasciitis", it refers to pain on the inside of the arch of the foot and heel.
* Injury is caused when overload causes collagen disruption of the plantar fascia and in some cases causes micro-tears to the tissue.
* Pain is exacerbated by weight bearing activities like running and jumping as the plantar fascia is stretched from the heel. It can often be more painful in the mornings.
* Management includes mobilising the ankle joint and soft tissues, Analysis of footwear and biomechanics and stretching and strengthening of the lower limb.
